Thelma Byrd Clowers , 79, of Poplar Springs Road, Greeneville, died early Friday morning, June 23, at her home.
She was retired from J.C. Penney and was a member of Love's Memorial U.M. Church, where she attended faithfully.
She was an inspiration to many, as well as a dedicated mother and grandmother.
She was a daughter of the late Andrew and Lou Ella Lewis Byrd and widow of the late Homer A. Clowers , who was her husband of 52 years.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Hugh Byrd and Fred Byrd ; and two sisters, Ila and Mattie Sue Byrd .
Survivors: one daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Jimmy Jones of Mosheim; two grandchildren, Brad Easterly and Lindsay Easterly; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Mabel Denton of Cosby, Alma Forrest of Cleveland, Ohio, and Edith and Ray Britt of Newport; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Joyce Byrd , Cornealious and Euretha Byrd , all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Doyle and Emma Byrd of Newport; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Selma Clowers , J.T. and Ina Ruth Clowers , Gail and Emedine Colyer, Vola Hawk, and Faye Colyer, all of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Kiser Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ricky Clowers and Rev. Sam Smith officiating. Interment will be in Love's Memorial Cemetery.
The body is at Kiser Funeral Home, where the family received friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
