Mary JoAn Whaley -BUTLER - Mary JoAn Whaley , 72, of Butler, GA, died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at her residence, of chronic lung disease. -Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11A.M. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Butler, with Rev. Fitz Brown. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. -She was born August 3, 1938 to the late Frank and Ruth Szarek . Mrs. Whaley grew up in Chicago, IL. She married the late James Whaley on January 1, 1955. They then moved to Taylor County in 1996. -She is survived by one brother, Jim Szarek of Wisconsin; one sister, Betty Hodges of Lockport, IL; three sons, James R. Whaley , Jr. of Mauk, GA, Thomas W. Whaley , Sr. of Germantown, NC and the late Paul H. Whaley ; two daughters, Mary E. ( Whaley ) Sweeney of Butler, GA, and Deborah A. ( Whaley ) Grobarcik of Westmont, IL; nine grandchildren, Candace Barrow (Brick), Justin Whaley , Becca Davis (Corey), Paul Whaley , Elizabeth Parker (Robbie), Tabatha Sweeney, Brittany Whaley , Tyler Whaley and Thomas W. Whaley , Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Rhiley Davis, Raven Parker and Easton Barrow. -Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. -You may sign the online guest register at www.edwardsmcleighton.com. -Edwards-McLeighton Funeral Home of Butler, GA is in charge of arrangements.
