Hazel Louise Dixon Hammontree passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Sterling House. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maryville since 1978, and served as Corresponding Secretary in the Belle Henry Young Sunday school class for a number of years. She was also an auxiliary volunteer at Blount Memorial Hospital for 23 years and substitute school teacher in Loudon County for 15 years. Preceded in death by her husband, Ben Hammontree ; mother and father, Ersie Mae and James A. Dixon. Survivors include daughters, Wanda Hammontree of Alcoa, and friend Doc Mace, Jewel Hood and husband Robert D. of Louisville; granddaughter, Michelle Knight and husband Jody of Walland great-grandchildren Shelby Grace, Andrew Joseph and Jacob Dean; sisters, Ella Marie Hammontree and husband Edwin of Maryville; Willie Hudson and husband J.D. of Greenback, Mable Hudson and husband Howard of Knoxville. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brenda and Larry Carroll officiating. The entombment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
