He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. After his retirement he was employed by Citizens National Bank for 10 years. Mr. Hammontree was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Sturdivant. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Wanda Everett Hammontree; son, Ed Hammontree; son-in-law, Jim Sturdivant; grandchildren, Thomas and Hannah Hammontree, Luke Sturdivant. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Rev. Hudson Chesteen and Rev. Danny Sutton will officiate.
