CLABO, REVEREND FRANK S. - age 85, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on February 7, 1923 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee to the late Louis Clabo and Emma McFall Clabo. Following high school, Frank was employed by Southern Railroad as a line switchman for more than twenty years and ended his career with the railroad working in the Coster Shop before entering the ministry. Reverend Clabo was a graduate of Tennessee Temple University and Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga. He was a currently a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Strawberry Plains, having previously been a member of Gleenwood Baptist Church in Powell for more than 30 years. He served the Lord faithfully as pastor of Mountain View Baptist Church in Knoxville, Yelvington Baptist Church in Yelvington, KY, Lincoln Hills Baptist Church in Rockport, Indiana, and First Baptist Church in Pikeville, Tennessee. In addition to full time pastorates, Reverend Clabo also served many churches in Tennessee and other states as an interim pastor. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his siblings. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Dolly Mingie Clabo of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Brenda Clabo of Knoxville; grandchildren, Martin Clabo and Stephanie Clabo both of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Helen Barker of Powell; uncle, Herb Clabo of Gatlinburg; cousin, Dude Clabo of Gatlinburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Dr. Hollie Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery with full military honors given by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Martin Clabo, David Barker, Charles Barker, Mike Barker, Tim Miller, Stanley Melhorn, C.O. Lakin, and Frank Draper.
