Rev. Frank S. Hux, age 85 of Newport passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Newport Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Frank was ordained as minister on July 10, 1955 serving as pastor of St. Tide Baptist and New Prospect Baptist for many years. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Clear Creek Baptist College in Pineville, Ky. In addition to his ministry, he worked at Stokely Van Camp, American Enka and Gulf Oil before retiring from the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Frank was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Artillery, South Pacific Theater and was a member of the American Legion Post 41.
Mr. Hux was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Manning Hux; parents, William and Arlie Pack Hux; brothers, Ed, Bob, Ruby, Hartsell and John Hux; sisters, Edna Taylor, Mary Mooneyham, Lena Toby and Selma Hux, and daughter-in-law, Sandra French Hux.
He is survived by his children, Jimmy Hux and wife Louise, Glenn Hux, Terry Hux and wife Debbie, Linda Daniels and husband Paul all of Newport; grandchildren, Dustin Hux and wife Jennifer, Whitney Holt and husband Larry, Jeramy Hux, David Williams and wife Lee, Jeramy Crum, Jason Crum, Holly Hux, and Meredith Hux; great-grandchildren, Madison Crum, Rebecca Laws, Joseph Holt, Emory Hux, Marlee Williams and Adrianna Hux; sister, Betty (Mrs. James) Bryant and Nelle Trentham; brothers, Henry Hux.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2007 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Ottinger and Rev. James Suggs.
Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2007 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum for the 10 a.m. entombment. Military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 5266 Honor Guard.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice.
