BUSH, JOHN THOMAS, III "JACKIE" - of Williamsburg, Virginia, died August 16, 2010, of complications from a fall related to post-polio syndrome. John was born in Knoxville May 21, 1931. He was a 1949 graduate of Catholic High School prior to the family's move to Memphis in 1952. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from The University of Tennessee and undertook graduate studies at the College of William and Mary. He retired from NASA in Hampton, Virginia, after more than forty years there. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas "Chink" Bush, Jr., and Jamie McCord Bush; a sister, Carolyn Bush Hudgens; aunt Mary Bush Manning; and uncle Kenneth Bush. He is survived by his wife, Joan Blythe Bush of Williamsburg; his daughter, Phyllis (Pat) Scarlett of Newport News Virginia; his son, Chris (Miwa) Bush of Kumamoto, Japan; his sister, Dianne Zanone of Memphis; and his brother, Dr. J. Kerry Bush of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as his niece and four nephews. Jackie will always be remembered for his love of all creatures, his humor, his quiet intelligence, and his kind and gentle spirit. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, at Bucktrout Funeral Home, Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Young-Williams Animal Center, 3201 Division Street, Knoxville, TN 37919.
