Callie L. Hatcher , age 86, of Maryville, passed away peacefully at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at Rosewood Care center, Rockford, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family. Callie had come to Illinois to spend several months with two of her seven children, Sue Esser and Donald Hatcher . Mom was a homemaker and loved to work with her hands. She loved gardening and has canned thousands of jars of vegetables and fruits over her lifetime. More than anything, Mom loved to sew. She loved to quilt and every stitch was done by hand. Her children are all blessed to have one or two of these priceless quilts which are cherished treasures. Mom's happiest times were spent with her children. If she could have had her way, we would all have been living in a BIG house with her trying to take care of us all. Sometimes parents don't make their feelings clear, they assume that their children know of the deep love they feel for them. Our mother always let us know that we were the greatest and her most precious gifts in life. Mom had not opened her eyes or uttered a word since Monday, but in her last breath she opened her eyes and said "I love you." Mom, we will never forget that the best parts of us are from you. Thanks for your unconditional love. You'll always be in our hearts. Survivors include: children, Sue Esser (Terry Weaver), Diane and Tommy Riden, Rosemary and Teater Sparks, Mildred Coulter, John and Barbara Farmer, Leonard and Sandi Keeble, Donald Hatcher ; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: her parents, brothers and sisters, the children's fathers, and two sons, Howard Jr. and James. The family would like to give special thanks to Julieta Casas for all her care and support. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2005, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois, with Reverend Gregory Carlson officiating, Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday. Additional services will be held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Jewell McCollum officiating, interment 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at West Miller's Cove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
