Charles "Alf" Ledford, age 70, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his mother Vergie Ledford and father Clyde Ledford. He is survived by his daughters Donna Barnett and Stephene Ledford; two grandchildren Brittany Miller and Becky Miller; brothers Bud, Dewey, and Thurman Ledford; sisters Lena Mae Fowler, Nancy Stuart, and Betty Duncan; special friend John Clark; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Bawgus officiating. The family received friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family met on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Ray's Chapel Church Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Niswonger Children's Hospital, 400 North State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, TN 37604-6094.
