BARBER, BETTY LYNN HIGHBAUGH - age 84 of Knoxville passed away Thursday Nov. 18, 2010. A graduate of Central High School and the University of Tennessee, an active member of Central High and U.T. Alumni Associations; Kappa Delta Sorority, Fontainalis Women's Club, Green Thumb and Timberlake Garden Clubs, Fort Sanders Hospital Auxiliary, the Buckingham Community Club and a Girl Scout Leader. She was a former member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City and Fourth Presbyterian Church before joining Second Presbyterian Church. Preceded in death by infant son Thomas Dean Barber, parents Harvey and Mayme Highbaugh; brother David Highbaugh and in-laws D. West and Carol Parmelee Barber. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Dean L. Barber, three children, Charles Douglas Barber, Janet Lynn Bailey, Ruth Ann Barber and husband Keith Watson of Pittman Center, Grandchildren Kristin Elise Barber and husband Benjamin Weiner, Jessie Lynn Allen and husband Richard Allen, Hilary Bailey step-grandchildren Erik Watson and wife Heather, Nicholas Watson and wife Kristin, and Dawn Watson and two Great grandchildren. Sister Lucille Campbell and husband Cecil, brother-in-law David Barber of Sevierville. A Memorial Service will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday at Second Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bryan Wilson and Dr. William R. Barron officiating with Visitation to follow at the church. Family and friends will meet at the main entrance to Lynnhurst Cemetery 10:45 A.M. Monday for Interment Service at 11:00 A.M.
