Lottie Odessa Taylor Payne - age 84 of Lenoir City, born April 12, 1925 in Violet, NC, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Loudon Healthcare Center.
She was the daughter of Lester and Vandora Taylor. Lottie was a true Proverbs 31, verses 10 thru 31 woman. She suffered with Alzheimer’s disease for the past 15 years as did several of her brothers and sisters. She lived the last 7 years at River Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Loudon.
Lottie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She loved her family and was very talented making quilts, embroidery, crocheting, and knitting. She was a wonderful country cook, freezing and canning fresh vegetables from the garden. Since 2004, Lottie has been without her partner in life, Ralph Payne. They were married 60 years living in Maryville for over 30 years in Lenoir City for 34 years.
Her family she leaves behind include her daughter, Joan Payne Erwin and husband, Mark of Charlotte, NC; sons, Mike Payne and wife, Sandy of Lenoir City, Kenneth Payne and wife, Kathy of Maryville; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Erwin, Melissa F. Highsmith, Angela P. Powell, Jason Payne, Kayla Payne and Jacob Stout; 4 great granddaughters, Emily and Macy Powell, Della Erwin and Lila Highsmith; brother, Winston Taylor and wife, Bertha; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, Lottie is preceded in death by her twin brother, Wayne Taylor, brother, Winford Taylor; sisters, Alene Morrow and Hazel Robinson.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the caregivers of River Oaks Assisted Living for their loving care and Loudon Healthcare, Station 3 for their devotion to our Mother.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 5, from 11 to 12 noon at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lenoir City. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Glenn Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
