PHIPPS, SUSAN CLABO - age 60, of Knoxville Tennessee died Sunday February 13, 2011 as a result of an automobile accident on February 3. 2011. Susan was a devoted Christian, gracious and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew her. Truly, she was an angel on earth. No job in the service of others was ever too large or too small. A graduate of Young High School and the University of Tennessee, she was a writer, professional photographer, artist and past president and current historian of the Knoxville Writers Group. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Clabo. She is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, Doug Phipps, son Robert Smith, son and daughter-in-law Jason and Paola Smith, grandson, Graem Merritt, sister and brother- in-law, Linda and Michael Underwood, brother, Phil Clabo, brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Tina Clabo, nephews, Tyson Clabo and wife Kendra, Clark Clabo, John Clabo, Michael Underwood and wife April, nieces Katherine Underwood, Kayla and Leanna Clabo, great nieces and nephews Reeves and Hudson Underwood and Ethan and Alissa Clabo, mother and father-in-law Charles and Louise Phipps, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Judy Phipps, nephew, John Phipps and wife Jada, and others too numerous to list, held close to her heart in her large and cherished family. The Phipps family will receive friends Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 7-9pm at Berry Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 AM Friday at Berry Funeral Home to proceed to Greenwood Cemetery for a 12:00 Noon interment service with Rev. Jim Hudson officiating.
