John E. Donahue, 75, of Mount Clemens, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1931, in Lexington, Ky.
Mr. Donahue was a former employee of the Macomb County Sheriff's Office and was employed as a computer analyst for Albert Kahn & Associates of Detroit. He married Nancy Largent on Aug. 12, 1950, in East Detroit. The couple settled in Mount Clemens and had been at their present address for the past 55 years.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mount Clemens for more than 50 years and a member of Bath City Collectors Club. His family said he was a voracious collector of Mount Clemens memorabilia.
Mr. Donahue is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Sherry (Lannie) McRill of Grosse Pointe Park, Cynthia Donahue of Clinton Township and Colleen "Georgie" Donahue of Missouri; grandchildren, Megan (Joseph) Schaden, Branden McRill, Courtney McRill, Adam T. Donahue, Amy Beth Simon and Patrick Donahue; and eight nieces and nephews.
He will also be missed by his beloved Belgian sheepdog, Osa.
He was predeceased by his parents, Judge John and Evelyn (Reagan) Donahue; granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Donahue Young; and sister, Barbara Donahue Richards.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 57 Southbound Gratiot (at Cass), Mount Clemens, with the Rev. Chuck Sonquist officiating. Burial will be in Clinton Grove Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. today and noon-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens. Additional visitation is 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
