OGLE, SARAH "KATHERINE" age 102, completed her life's journey on Sunday, surrounded by her family. She will forever rest in God's presence in Heaven where she will be welcomed by Bruce, her husband of 65 years; parents, Leonidas and Ella Agnes Stooksbury; grandson, Tuckey John Tyler Hayes III; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert T. and Daphine Stooksbury. Also there to greet her were her beloved pets; Holly I, Holly II, JoJo, and Bailey, as well as many friends, neighbors, and family members from throughout her life. Mom is survived by sons, Bruce, Pikeville, TN, Bill and special friend, Joann Moore, Knoxville, TN; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Norma, Jim and Lynn, all of Knoxville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Melvin Pierce, Martha and Vance Burkey, Becky and Danny Kelley, Virginia and Norman Swain, all of Knoxville, Shirley and Bob Cook, Baldwin, MD, and children of her heart, Peggy and Clyde Strange, Knoxville. She is "Mamaw" to 18 grandchildren, Robby, Billy. Kristi, Jason, and James (Susan) Ogle, Tina (Tommy) Templeton, Missy (Terry) Brown, Vickie (Ernest) Short, Lisa (Steve) Reed, Mindy (Steve) Meade, Laura (Pete) Wright, Mel (Gina) Pierce, Winston Hayes , Tuckey Hayes (deceased), Katherine Cook, Sarah (Mike) Newman, Jennifer and Christopher Kelly; 31 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. There is also a host of nieces and nephews and their children. Mom was a big fan of dirt track and Nascar racing, UT football, and the UT Men and Women's basketball teams. Mom and Dad owned and operated Ogle's Market and Deli in West Knoxville where they worked together for more than 50 years. She finally retired at the age of 75 to become the daily caregiver to many of her grandchildren. Beginning in 1998, she hosted a daily morning coffee club which was attended by Jack, Bill, Jim, Melvin, and other family and friends. Topics of conversation included the weather, world events, politics, the economy, the daily happenings of family and friends, plus anything else that anyone wanted to discuss. Mom and Dad were faithful members of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church for many years before joining Hollywood Hills Baptist Church after the family moved to West Knoxville. Mom's legacy to her family is; a deep and devoted Christian faith that she professed daily; a lifetime of motherly love; a warm, kind, and forgiving heart; and a serene and gracious spirit. She read her Bible daily and especially loved the 91st Psalm, drawing much comfort from its words. Her favorite quote from the Bible is taken from 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you". Mom also loved the poem, "The Watcher", by Margaret Widdemer(1884-1978). "THE WATCHER" She always leaned to watch for us, Anxious if we were late, In winter by the window, In Summer by the gate. And though we mocked her tenderly, Who had such foolish care, The long way home would seem more safe, Because she waited there. Her thoughts were all so full of us, She never could forget, And so I think that where she is, She must be watching yet. Waiting til we come home to her, Anxious if we are late, Watching from Heaven's window, Leaning from Heaven's gate. The Ogle family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care received from the 4th floor staff and physical therapists at Shannondale Healthcare Center. Each of the caregivers were a blessing to both Mom and her entire family. A very special "Thank you" is given to Dr. Steven Reed for his years of care. Mom's roommate, Ms. Carol Hart, was a loving and caring companion during Mom's stay at Shannondale. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, on Wednesday, March 27.
