PATE, ROYAL W., SR. - age 74 went home to be with the Lord on Friday January 23, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a member of Linden Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents W.T. and Beulah Pate and his wife Earnestine Pate. He is survived by his sons J.R. Pate and wife Judy of Knoxville and Richard Pate and wife Leslie of Jefferson City; grandchildren Amber and Brandon Hill, Melina Pate, Simon Pate; sisters Rae (J.B) Reynolds, Ailene Gibson; brothers W.T. Pate, C.L. (Carolyn) Pate; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted on Monday evening January 26, 2009 at 8:00 PM in the chapel of McCarty - Evergreen Funeral Home with the Rev. Teddy McCloud officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM Tuesday morning for an 11:00 AM graveside service at the Cate Cemetery, Dumplin Valley. The family received friends from 6:00 PM until time for funeral services at 8:00 PM at the McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home chapel. Pallbearers will be Bryan Myers, Thad Proffitt, Clint Bowman, Scott Bowman, Brandon Hill and Jerry Wright. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Linden Baptist Church Building Fund, 2341 Jefferson Ave, Knoxville TN 37917. McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy., Knoxville (637-7955) is honored to serve the Pate family.
