Lillie Osborn Webber, age 104, of Knoxville went home to be with her Savior on July 4, 2011 at Hillcrest North. Member of Mynatt Rd. Baptist Church. Lillie was born in Knoxville on January 18, 1907. Her father, Vardamon Johnson was a maintenance technician for Southern Railway. Her mother, Mamie Wells Johnson cared for the large family which included eight children. Lillie left home at fifeteen years old and began working as a weaver for a period of ten years at Brookside Cotton Mill. At the age of twenty three Lillie met a man from Springfield, Il. Named George Osborn. The two were married and made their home in Knoxville. Lillie and George gave birth to three sons, David, George Jr., and Edward. Lillie chose the career of taking care of her home and children and she assisted in caring for her aging parents. George and Lillie’s life was not about the pursuit of personal gain, but was always characterized by their willingness to serve and care for others. In 1963 George Sr. passed away. In 1973, Rev. Beryl Webber began showing interest in Lillie and in 1975 the two were married at Mynatt Rd. Baptist Church. Lillie and Beryl made their residence on Mynatt Rd. in Halls for all of their thirty four years of marriage. Beryl passed away in 2009. When asking Lillie why she was living a long life, she always was quick to tell you that she honored her mother and father, and with that she is claiming the promise of commandment #5 which states that your days will be long upon the Earth. She was preceded in death by husband of 33 years (1930-1963) George Osborn and husband of 34 years(1975-2009) Rev. Beryl Webber. Father, Vardamon Johnson and mother Mamie Wells Johnson. Sisters, Lucille Bruner, Ella Ballard, Adra Bruner, Ruby Hodge and Stella Foster. Brother, Thurman Johnson. Step-daughters, Opal Williams and Ruby Lawhorn. Step-son, Alvin Webber. Survivors: sons, David Osborn and wife Martha. George Osborn Jr. and Ed Osborn and wife Robin. Grandchildren: David A. Osborn and wife Shari, Vicki Smith and husband Larry, Shawn Osborn, Maurice Osborn, Sheree Benner and husband Frank, Emily Beeler and husband Ryan, Rebekah Osborn. To all her “family” at Hillcrest North, we would like to thank all of you for taking such great care of Lillie. It would be impossible to name all the wonderful caregivers you provided. You certainly were like her “family”. Funeral service 7 PM Thursday, Mynatt’s Halls Chapel. Rev. Eddie Beeler officiating.
