U.S. Veteran Roger S. Burnett, age 68 of Walland, was take home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 16, 2010 at his winter home in Altoona, Florida. A member of Piney Level Missionary Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a building contractor in Blount County for 40 years working the last 23 years with his beloved son a avid gardener who loved canning his own vegetables. Preceded in death by, parents, Cecil and Adra Burnett; brother, Robert Burnett; father in law & mother in law, Cecil and Gladys Ogle; nephew, Rodney Ogle; sister in law, Sandra Ogle. Survived by loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Sarah Jeanette Burnett; son, Eugene Burnett of Walland; daughter and son in law, Annette and Keith Moore of Maryville; grandson, Matthew Lequire of Walland; brother in law, Martin Ogle of Maryville; brother in law and sister in law, Murlin and Brenda Ogle of Maryville; brother in law and sister in law, Lowell and Ruth Ogle of Georgia; sister in law and brother in law, Carla and Tim Ogle of Maryville; host of nieces and nephews and many close buddies and friends. He loved Piney Level Missionary Baptist Church and all of his church family. We will always cherish the memories of his love for the American Flag. Funeral service 8:00 PM Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Piney Level Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. George Macht and Rev. Carl White officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held 1:00 PM Monday at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Piney Level Baptist Church, 3527 Piney Level Church Road, Maryville, TN 37803 or Juvenile Diabetes Website at JDRF.ORG.
