CATON, B. D., JR. - age 84 of Newport, died suddenly Friday morning at his home. He was a charter member of the English Mountain Christian Church, and was an elder and chairman of the board. He was a retired employee of Stokely Van Camp where he held the positions of Chemist, Plant manager and District Manager with 40 years of service. He was a 1941 graduate of ETSU. He was preceded in death by parents, Benjamin D. and Bernice Easterly Caton; brother, James G. Caton and sisters, Sara C. Swann of Dandridge and Pauline C. Cline of N. Andover, Mass. He is survived by his wife, Edna Mason Caton of Newport; son, Dr. Benjaminn D. Caton, III, ETSU professor of music of Johnson City, Tenn.; sister, Dr. Irma J. Caton of Denton, TX; also brothers in law; sisters in law; nieces; nephews; and cousins. Funeral service will be Monday 4:30 p.m. at the English Mountain Christian Church with Rick Carr officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be made to English Mountain Christian Church, P.O.
