WILCOX, REVEREND CHARLES JAMES age 60, of Jacksboro passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007, after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. Jim was the pastor of New Horizon Baptist Church in LaFollette. He graduated from Central High School, Brewton Parker College and Carson-Newman College. His sweet spirit, strength, determination, and unshakable faith blessed all those who knew him and called many to a deeper faith walk. He was a living testimony who faced death with a sense of peace and assurance that he would be with God for eternity. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles James Wilcox, Sr. and father-in-law, Norman Hodges. He will be remembered and missed by his wife of 37 years, Dora Kate Hodges Wilcox; daughters, Lisa Wilcox Thompson, Amy Wilcox Vinsant, Katie Marie Wilcox; sons-in-law, Bryan Thompson, Bo Vinsant; grandchildren, Halie and Hannah Vinsant, Andy and Clay Thompson; mother, Lillian Wilcox; sisters, Ann Hardin and Sandra Stoffell; special great nephew, Chase Stoffell; mother-in-law, Gaisy Hodges; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma and Jullian Sconyers, Calvin and Faye Hodges; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews; and the entire congregation of New Horizon Baptist Church. The family would like to extend special thanks to David Shepherd, Glen Petree, Charles McNeeley, and the late, Gerald McFarland for their faithful support and friendship throughout his illness. We would also like to thank the entire congregation of New Horizon Baptist Church for the love and prayers they have shown Jim throughout his illness. He loved you all! Funeral services Saturday 4 P.M. at New Horizon Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Jones, Rev. Glen Petree, and Rev. David Shepherd officiating. Graveside services to follow at Powell Valley Cemetery & Memorial Gardens with Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Deacons of the New Horizon Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call after 10 A.M. Saturday at New Horizon Baptist Church with the family receiving friends from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. before services. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the New Horizon Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 270, LaFollette, TN 37766. Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Rev. Jim Wilcox.
