Mr. Gary Lee Mink, Sr., 57, 111 Sleepy Hollow Road, Johnson City, TN went home to with the Lord after an extended illness on Sunday, June 14, 2009 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. A native of Knox County, he was the son of the late Ralph J. and Mildred Juanita Morgan Mink. He retired from Kelley Food Service and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and camping. Mr. Mink was a member of the Prayer Tabernacle Church in Elizabethton, and was also a member of the Clinch Mountain Bass Masters Fishing Club.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Mink was preceded in death by his wife Glenda L. Wilkerson Mink. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Keith Burchfield, Johnson City; a son, Lee Mink, Jr., Bristol, VA; sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy and Jerry Street, Hampton, Linda Henning Bowling Mink, Elizabethton and Diana Willis, Johnson City; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Sue Mink and Daryl and Patti Mink, all of Knoxville, TN; mother-in-law, Thelma DeFord Wilkerson, Knoxville, TN.; seven grandchildren, Brandi Burchfield and Brandon Burchfield, both of Johnson City, Trevor Mink, Trenton Mink and Kynlea Mink, all of Bristol, VA., and Chase Chambers and Chelsea Chambers, both of Mountain City, TN.; and a great granddaughter, Kayleigh Chambers, Mountain City, TN.
A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Gary L Mink, Sr. will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace with Rev. Greg Wagner officiating. Music will be under the direction of Diana Willis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of his daughter, Kim Burchfield, 205 Happy Valley Road, Johnson City, other times. Private disposition will be held at a later date.
