BUCKNER, REV. HENRY J. - age 85, of Maryville, passed away Monday, May 5, 2003, at Asbury Place of Maryville. He was a member of Society of Friends Quaker Church in Friendsville, retired maintenance supervisor for the State of Tennessee, minister and evangelist for over 60 years with a lot of work in the civil rights area as well as an accomplished musician. Preceded in death by parents, Joshua Baird and Laura Lucinda Penland Buckner sisters, Florence Kidd, Grace Donaldson, and May Counts infant son, Henry Buckner, Jr., and granddaughter, Belinda Gay . Survivors include wife of 57 years, Billie Jean Buckner sons and daughter-in-law, Rev. Robert J. Buckner of Knoxville, Billy Ray and Deborah Angela Buckner of Maryville, Timothy J. and Terry L. Buckner of Maryville, Thomas L. and Lisa A. Buckner of Knoxville, Myron Buckner and special friend, Teresa Smith, Brian J. Buckner and Cindi T. Buckner of Knoxville, James and Debbie Buckner of Maryville grandchildren, Tammi Renae Hodges, Melissa Kay Buckner Dunlap, Angela Suzann Buckner King, Andrew Scott Buckner, Jason Buckner, Heather L. Buckner, Kristian T. Buckner, Laura Elizabeth Buckner, David and wife, Amanda Buckner, Amanda and Luke Johnson, Matthew Buckner, Nikki Yates great grandchildren, Danielle Buckner, Teddy Buckner, Emma Buckner, Gracie Buckner, Daylen Johnson and Alexis Buckner sister, Sarah L. Buckner of Maryville brother, J.P. "Josh" Buckner of Louisville special family members, Beth and Kevin Miller, Julie and Andy Schriver, Emily Baker, Katherine Miller, Molli Miller and Rachael Miller. Funeral service 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Miller Funeral Home Magnolia Chapel, Rev. Robert J. Buckner officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment service. Family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
