Arthur “Art” Boring, age 94, born April 2, 1921 in Miller’s Cove, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at Shannondale of Maryville on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.
Art retired from TVA as a general superintendent. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army and was a lifelong Freemason. Art was also an excellent carpenter, an avid equestrian, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline “Polly” (Haun) Boring, and was the last survivor of the 13 children of William Henry and Martha Leann (Abbott) Boring. His siblings include brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill (Mamie), Fred (Margaret), Leonard Maynard (Kate), Oscar (Hassie), Sam (Henrietta) and Robert Boring; sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle (Paul) Morton, Mae (Jim) Barnett, Lorene (Tom) Buris, Lois Boring and Betty (Ken) Fitts.
Survivors: Daughters and son-in-law: Margie and David Myers Maryville, TN Fran Palmer Maryville, TN Grandchildren and spouses: Jeana (Boring) and Don Bradley Decatur, TN Tony and Tonia Boring Maryville, TN Dora (Boring) Ferguson Blount Co., TN Laura (Palmer) and James Morton Blount Co., TN Rebekah Myers Blount Co., TN Creed Palmer Rockville, MD He was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Cara Barnes of Phoenix, AZ; Bradley Boring of Blount Co., TN; Chara Boring of Blount Co., TN; Crystal (Bradley) and Randy Denson of Gray, TN; Brandi (Boring) and Josh Welch; Sarah-Francess Jones; Beth Relefors; Anthony Boring; Kailee Boring; Brittany Cooper; Andrew Yager; Reagan Morton; and Alexander Yager all of Blount Co., TN He was also a great-great-papaw: Isaiah Bradley-Wilson, Makayla Boring, Emmalyn Welch, Jayden Boring, and Kylie Cooper A special thank you to the nursing staff at Shannondale for providing compassionate care. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Home in Maryville from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015. Family and friends will assemble at Miller Funeral Home in Maryville at 12:30 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015 and proceed to Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the 1:30 p.m., graveside service and final resting place in the Garden of the Masonic with veteran’s honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cades Code Preservation, 1004 East Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, TN 37803 or to Alzheimer’s Association of East TN, 1545 Western Ave., Suite 110 A Knoxville, TN 37921. Myers Funeral Home of Tellico Plains is in charge of the arrangements.
