Wayne Giles, age 70, of Boaz, Alabama, died Monday March 23, 2009, at Marshall County Hospice in Albertville, Alabama. Wayne was born in Newport, Tennessee, on March 26, 1938, to Loki and Maggie Giles. He married Patricia Louise Dunn in 1957. Wayne was an employee of Sonoco Products Company for 10 years in Newport, and later in Boaz, Alabama; Simpsonville, South Carolina; and in Opp, Alabama, for a total of 28 years. Upon retiring, he returned to Boaz where he has lived for the past 16 years. Wayne was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Crestview Church of Christ in Boaz, Alabama. Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Louise Giles; three children: son Joel and wife Lisa Giles, of Boaz; son, David and wife Sharon Giles, of Boaz; and daughter, Melinda Puckett, of Opp, Alabama. Wayne has six grandchildren: Stephen Giles, Emily Giles, Ben Giles, Tori Puckett, Mason Giles, and Mitchell Puckett. He had one great-grandchild, Joby Giles. Wayne is survived by his brothers, Johnny Webb, Charles Webb, Donald Turner, Gene Webb and James Lee Webb. He is survived by his sisters, Linda Valentine and Brenda Wise, all of Newport, Tennessee. Wayne is predeceased by his sons, Wayne Giles Jr. and Joby Giles, also by his sisters Pauline Fridley, JoAnn Worley, Bonnie Levine, and by his brother, Ralph Giles. The funeral service will be March 25, 2009. Pallbearers are James Dunn, John Dunn, Stephen Giles, Ben Giles, Mason Giles, and Mitchell Puckett. McRae Funeral Home service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. and graveside services at Hillcrest Cemetery will follow immediately afterwards. Memorial donations requested for Childhaven Orphanage in Cullman, Ala., or Marshall County Hospice in Albertville, Ala.
