Neil W. Rader, age 74, of Newport went to be with Jesus Friday, August 6, 2204, at home after an extended battle with cancer.
He retired from BASF in 1986 after 36 years of service, was involved with the Newport Rescue Squad, a former alderman for the city of Newport, and worked for Stinnett Chevrolet at the time of the death.
Her served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and served in the Tennessee National Guard Reserves. He was a faithful member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.D. and Anna Mae Rader; and brother, Buford Rader.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jennie Lou Rader; three sons and daughters-in-law, Col. Neil Edward and Sheila Rader of Tampa, FL, Tim W. and Melisa Rader and Michael L. and Carla Rader of Cleveland, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Faye Rader; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2004, at Manes Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate the live of Neil will be Monday, August 9, 2004, at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, with the Rev. Craig Ward, the Rev. Mike Tyson and Dr. Don Olive officiating.
Interment to immediately follow at Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church (Venezuela Mission Trip), 234 Lincoln Ave., Newport, TN 37821.
