Eisenhouser to be honored by SCHAS

The National Association of Community Health Centers awarded Congressman Dr. Phil Roe with the 2011 Community Center Health Defenders Award for his experience in the medical field and his continued support of community health centers. NEWPORT-The Senior Citizens Home Assistance Service (SCHAS) will honor Newport native Jennifer Eisenhower as Citizen of the Year at Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center at noon on Sept. 15.
Eisenhower, a family nurse practitioner since 2003, works for Family Practice Center primarily in the White Pine facility. She is well known for her participation in Relay for Life events and for singing at various local events.
She is the daughter of Ann Smith Briggs and the late Larry R. Smith. Evelyn was an elementary teacher at Newport Grammar School and Larry was the self-employed owner of Smith Trucking Services. She is the granddaughter of Evelyn Smith, the late I.J. Smith, and the late Connie and Marjorie Overholt. Her grandparents were business owners in the area for more than 50 years.
Her husband of 18 years, Brian Eisenhower, is the son of the late Wilbur and Zella Ruth Eisenhower. Jennifer and Brian have one son, McKinley Smith Eisenhower, 13.
Having attended Newport Grammar School, she is a 1990 graduate of Cocke County High School. She received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Carson-Newman College in 1995 and earned her master of science in nursing degree, family practitioner, in 2003. From 1995 to 1997 she was employed by Superior Home Health as a road nurse and patient care supervisor. She first started working at Family Practice Center in 1997 as the registered nurse for Dr. David Kickliter.
