Naomi "Granny" Goins Henderson, 80, of Clinton, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Henderson was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Clinton. She was the widow of Condie Henderson, who died on July 11, 1960.
She was born Sept. 30, 1916, in Campbell County, the daughter of Logan and Celia Richardson Goins. According to her family, she enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends, but most of all, she enjoyed being a grandmother.
Mrs. Henderson is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Wiese, Kathleen Cardwell and her husband, Doyle T., and Anna Lee Elkins and her husband, James, C., all of Clinton; and four sons, William R. Henderson, Ronald W. Henderson, Charles C. Henderson and his wife, Frances L., and Jerry L. Henderson and his wife, Loretta F., also all of Clinton.
She is also survived by four sisters, Ollie Mae Waller, Mattie Elizabeth Purkey, Bessie Norman and Sarah Martin and her husband, Don; eight granddaughters, Connie Kelly, Tammy Christie, Dwan Wallace, Kim Richards, Patti Oubre, Lisa Miller, Susan Jacks and Alieshia Monday; four grandsons, Steve Henderson, Doug Henderson, Mitchel Elkins and Shannon Cardwell; and by 14 great-grandchildren.
A son, Alvis McArthur Henderson, died Sept. 8, 1995, and a daughter, Alta Lee Henderson, died in infancy. Two brothers, Albert Carden Goins and John Lee Goins, also died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, June 16, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. George Williams officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Overton Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
