CARDWELL, DOYLE TAFT - age 69 of Clinton passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 24, 1940. Doyle was a United States Army Veteran, a life member of Alpha Lodge #376 F&AM. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Freemasonary, S.J.U.S.A and Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Mason of Tennessee. Doyle was also a member of the Alpha Charter #223 and Shriners Kerbela Temple of Knoxville, a member of The American Legion Post 172 and a longtime member of the Carpenters Local #50, retired from many years of service with TVA. Doyle was a very loving, generous man and was always there with a helping hand for his fellow man. Our loss will be Heaven's gain. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, O. T. & Velma McCarter Cardwell; stepmother, Mabel Cardwell; mother & father-in-law, Condie & Naomi Henderson; sister, Lucy Lane; sister-in-law, Annalee Elkins; brothers-in-law, Bill, Charles, and Alvis Henderson, Buddy Keith; and special aunt, Lura Cardwell. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Kathleen Cardwell and children, Kim Richards and husband Jeff, Doyle Shannon Cardwell and wife Colleen, Alieshia Monday and husband Todd. He leaves behind 6 special grandchildren who will remember the loving moments he spent with each of them: Jeffrey Richards, II & wife Candice, PVT. Joshua Richards & wife Sarah, Tausha & his best buddy, Nicholas Monday, Katie & Gracie Cardwell and 3 precious great grandchildren, Jacob, Jailee and Jackson Richards. He leaves behind special brothers, Don & Becky Cardwell of Chattanooga, Charles & Karen Cardwell of Heiskell, Clayton & Eilene Cardwell of Nashville, Ora Jr. of Johnson City and sisters, Allamae & Syl Corley of Oak Ridge, JoAnne Keith of Knoxville, Opal Bridges of Greenville, Charlotte Riseden of Knoxville, Billie Viles of Virginia, Bobbie & Russ Strand of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Weise of Clinton, Frances Henderson of Clinton; brothers-in-law, Ronald Henderson, Jerry & Kathy Henderson, Jimmy Elkins and several loving nieces and nephews including Jarrid Gray who was a wonderful help to him. Special thanks to Carol of Hospice Services and Sue, Lisa & Tracy with Professional Case Management. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital or charity of your choice. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 6-8PM at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with Masonic services at 8:00 followed by the funeral service in the chapel with Rev. Danny Light officiating. Interment will be Friday, October 2nd at 10:00AM at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jeff, Todd, Sam, Jarrid, Jeffrey & Josh. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements.
