SIMPSON, WILLIAM JOSEPH (BILL) - age 77 of Knoxville passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at his home. During his illness he was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and the owner and operator for 37 years of the family business, Knoxville Linen and Towel Service. U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving in France with the 961st Ordinance MM Company. He was an active fisherman, and a big fan of the Lady Vols. Preceded in death by parents, Rev. Frank and Beatrice Simpson. Survivors include wife of 58 years, Hazel Simpson; children and spouses, Don Simpson (Debra), Brian Simpson (Pamela), Jean Millsaps (Lester), Marsha Robinson (David) of Nicaragua; brothers, John Simpson and wife Becky, and Jackie Simpson and wife Ann; sisters, Elizabeth Burns and Bobbie Jo Melbo; grandchildren, Kelley Millsaps and wife Christie, Angela Clevenger and husband Gary, Andrew Simpson, Cody Simpson, April Robinson, Jonathan Robinson and wife Megan; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Braden Clevenger, and Katelyn and Kelsey Millsaps; and several nieces and nephews, all of Knoxville. Funeral services will be 8:00 pm Thursday, June 7, 2007 in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Ingram and Rev. David Collins officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Friday at Asbury Cemetery for an 11:00 am interment. Military honors will be provided by the East Tennessee Veteran Honor Guard. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Voice of Hope Ministries, P.O. Box 14797, Knoxville, TN, 37914. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 523-4999.
