Mr. Cecil Stinson , age 79, of Del Rio, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the James H. Quillen VAMC in Johnson City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isham and Jessie Stinson ; two sisters, Lucy Self and Etolia Center; and brothers, Luther and Geter Stinson .
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was a veteran of WWII. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct medal, and several other medals while serving in the military.
He is survived by his wife, Trula (Clark) Stinson , of the home; son and daughter-in-law, James and Margaret Stinson , of Del Rio; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Butch Taube, of Niles, MI; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Scott and Alicia Stinson , of Del Rio; grandsons, Marc and Ryan Taube, of Niles, MI; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lori and Reggie Allen, of Del Rio; great-granddaughters, Hannah Elaine Allen and Emily Brook Stinson ; sisters, Aletha Roberts, of South Carolina, Etta Gibs, of Newport, and Esther (Leon) Brown, of Afton; and brothers Paul Stinson , of Del Rio and Harley Stinson , of Pennsylvania.
The funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Saturday evening, April 28, 2001, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Caughran officiating. Interment will be 1 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Mulberry Gap Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening, April 28, 2001, prior to the 8 p.m. funeral service.
Honorary pallbearers were Kennan Bible, Marc Taube, Ryan Taube, Scott Stinson , Reggie Allen, Darius Bible, and Dana Clark.
