LIGE SAMUEL “SAM” PRICE, 82 of Dandridge, TN passed away at Jefferson Memorial Hospital on Monday, February 11, 2013. Sam was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from the US Postal Service Knoxville, Burlington Branch. After retirement he worked as a bail bondsman in Jefferson County and along with his son Jerry, had a stump grinding business. Sam served in the US Army with two tours in Korea and one in Germany. In the military, he was a championship bantam weight boxer. He and his twin brother, Clyde, also participated in the Golden Gloves Program held in the Jacob’s Building in the 1950’s. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Harry and Ethel Hutsell Price, twin brother Clyde Harry Price, and his son, Jerry Marshall Price. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Mary Belle Pinkston Price; son ,Terry Samuel Price (Sue); daughter, Mary Carol Merritt; five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, James (Geneva) Price of Kingsport and Ed (Joyce) Price of Knoxville,;sister, Opal (Ed) White of Friendsville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Alzheimer’s of Knoxville, 200 Prosperity Drive, Knoxville, TN 37923. Graveside funeral service, Friday, 2:00pm at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Rick Hollifield officiating. Military Honors followed by a ceremonial “Dove Release” will conclude the service.
