Mr. Donald Gene Jenkins, age 79, of Newport, went to be with the Lord on March 15, 2014.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Louise Jenkins, mom and dad Joseph and Pearl Epley Jenkins, sisters Marie Buckner, Nyoka Gunloft, Betty Ramos, and Lola Jenkins, brother Kenneth Jenkins and nephew Nicky Gene Ledford.
He is survived by his wife of forty years Pauline Ellis Jenkins; daughter Karen (Charlie) McNabb, sons David (Rhonda) Jenkins and Christopher and friend Megan Davis; grandchildren Daniel Strange Jenkins, Dylan Jenkins, Joshua McNabb, and Hayley Jenkins, all of Newport; sister Geraldine Ledford of Newport; sister-in-law Glida R. Ellis of Morristown and a host of nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include special friend JT (Helen) Sinard of White Pine and Dan (Helen) Proffitt of Newport.
A special “Thank you” to all the wonderful people with Amedisys Hospice for all their help and kind words, to Dr. McConnell, Sharon Hill, and Dr. Kickliter at The Family Practice Center for all their care, to everyone at Unity Baptist Church for all your support and to all the kind staff at Costner-Maloy for their thoughtfulness during this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Morris Cemetery with Reverend Robert Allen, Reverend Billy Ball, and Pastor Paul Jennings officiating. The family will receive friends at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home from 1:00—2:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to going in procession to the cemetery. Albert Raines will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
