Gail Abbott Burnett, age 67, of Greenback, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009. Gail was an active member of First Baptist Church Lenoir City where she previously served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a retired teacher from the Lenoir City School System with 28 years of service and had also taught in Walker County, Georgia for 2 years. She graduated from Carson Newman College in 1964 with honors and received her masters degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 1987. Gail was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Bessie Abbott of Townsend. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jerry "Bo" Burnett; daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Mark Shubert of Lenoir City, Stacy and Gerard Laurain of Boulder, CO; grandchildren: Mandy, Marcy, Austin and Kelsey Shubert, Cole and Aly Laurain; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eddie and Ola Abbott, Tony and Lisa Abbott; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Tim Napier all of Townsend; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ted and Pat Burnett of Westminister, MD, Barry and Pam Burnett of Crossville, June and Bill Bilbrey of Signal Mountain; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. C. E. Jackson and Rev. Phillip Martin officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Townsend for graveside services with Rev. Dick DeMerchant officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 2085 Simpson Road East, Lenoir City, TN 37772. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is serving the Burnett family.
