September 15, 1925 - February 16, 2016
Resided in Maryville, TN
Lucy Jane Williams Jenkins went to her heavenly home on February 16, 2016. She was born September 15, 1925, to the late O. L. and Nancy Burchfield Williams in Graham County, North Carolina. Lucy loved the Lord and served Him faithfully at Madison Avenue Baptist Church for over fifty years, working in the nursery and singing in the choir for many of those years. She retired from the Maryville City School system after having worked in the cafeteria at Maryville Junior High School for several years.
She made her first trip to the beach with her dear neighbors, the late June and Lee Taylor, in 1952. After that she made at least one trip to the beach every year. She spent many hours with her family and good friends, the late Mildred and Harlan Crumpton, walking the beach looking for shells and shark's teeth. She acquired quite a collection of both!
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Geter P. Jenkins, Sr.; son, Geter, Jr.; grandson, Geter, III; brothers, Pearlie, Marion, Fred and Allen Williams; sisters, Rhoda and Pauline Williams, Bessie Williams Queen, and Betty Williams Birchfield.
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and J.E. Noe; daughter, Patricia Jenkins; daughter-in-law, Glenda Jenkins; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Chris and Amanda Noe, Jonathan and Kelly Noe; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jennifer and Nolan Shepherd; great grandsons, Christopher Noe, Samuel Shepherd, Carson Shepherd; great granddaughter, Laney Noe; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Hugh Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Glenn Cummings and Rev. Brent Randolph officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Sherwood Mausoleum for the entombment service.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Church.
