J. T. Luke Anthony, age 77 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011. He was born May 7, 1933 in Cades Cove Tennessee, in the historic Tipton-Oliver Cabin. He lived in Cades Cove for about two years, then his family moved to Walland.
After serving in the Army in the Korean Conflict, Mr. Anthony moved to Chicago in the mid-1950s. He moved back to Tennessee in1978, and has been a resident of Sevierville ever since. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents Isaac “Jack” Anthony and Lula Johnson Anthony; his brothers J. B. Anthony and Clyde Anthony; and his sister Mary Bell Anthony.
Mr. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sylvia Lawson Anthony; his son, John Anthony; his brother, James Anthony of Miami, Florida; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herman and Shelda Shults, Van and Sandy Lawson, George and Charlotte Lawson, Tony Lawson; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral service 5 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Lonas officiating. Interment 2 PM Sunday at Mattox Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #104. The family will receive friends 3-5 PM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
