Gladys Irene Martin, born December 28, 1922, and lifelong resident of Blount County passed away Tuesday, November 1 at Blount Memorial Hospital after a very brief illness. She leaves her three children, Thomas James Martin, Terry Lynn Martin, and Larry Alan Martin; and beloved brother and sister-in-law, Freeland "Ted" Godfrey and wife Nancy; sister-in-law, Gene Fuller; and brother-in-law, Robert Dunn; and numerous much loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Nora Fuller Reagan, Pearl Fuller Mesta, and Adeline Godfrey Dunn; and brothers, James Alan Fuller and Herbert Fuller.
It was her expressed wish that funerary services be very simple and orderly; she had a carefully preplanned arrangement which has been carried out by her family. Mrs. Martin expressed a desire for anyone who wished to send flowers to contribute generously in remembrance to her to any favorite charity. She delighted in the fact that she was fortunate enough and able enough to travel and enjoy her life to the very end of it. Her most heartfelt wish was certainly for her friends and family to remember her with a smile, to love God and one another, and to enjoy each day fully.
