OCEANA -- Lolita Gilliland, 76, passed away Monday, May 2, 2005, in Logan General Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born Nov. 2, 1928, in Inez, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Hal Wentz (B. about 1900) and Jean Phipps-Wentz (B. about 1900).
Mrs. Gilliland was a member of Oceana United Methodist Church. `Granny` was former co-manager of Gilliland Park and Pool and a 4-H All Star in Cabell County.
She enjoyed reading, her church, children and grandchildren. Her proudest accomplishment was her life with her loving husband and friend, Gene.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Wentz-Shumate.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 56 years, Gene `Coach` Gilliland; three daughters, Susan Gilliland-Sexton and her husband, James, of Wharton, Debbie Gilliland-Pendley and her husband, Joe, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Martha "Marty" Gilliland-Morgan (B 1957) and her husband, Terry, of Cincinnati; a brother, Bill Wentz and his wife, Betty K., of Grayson, Ky.; a sister, Doris Ann Wentz-Adams of Huntington; seven grandchildren, Allen Sexton and his wife, Alisha, of Williamstown, Eddie Sexton of Rock Hill, S.C., Jennifer Sexton of Fort Mill, S.C., and Ty Morgan, Tory Morgan, Max Pendley and Rose Pendley, all of Cincinnati; and three great-grandchildren, Emilee Sexton, Elizabeth Sexton and Lauren Sexton.
