HAYS, WILLIAM ALLEN - age 83 of Knoxville, who passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, has gone to sing with the Angel Band. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, and he was the Minister of Music at Valley Grove Baptist Church. He was also a member of CWA Pioneers, Seymour Optimist, and Gideons. He was also a U.T. usher. He retired as Communication Consultant with South Central Bell. Bill was loved and admired by all who came in contact with him. He is preceded in death by wife, Lois Cogdill Hays; parents, Dovie Viola Rhodes Hays and Kobert Thomas Hays; sister, Maxine Evans. Survived by: wife, Loyce Smith Hays; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Larry Asbury; daughters, Lisa, Donna and baby Lori Hays; son, David Allen Hays; grandchildren, Parker Luttrell, Lauren Jackson, Lindsay Shoen, Hays McClain, Madison Jackson, Madeline Marens and Noah Allen Hays; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Glenda Hays, Tommy and Rosemary; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Hollie Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Highland South. Pallbearers: C. Parker Luttrell, Dustin George, Dean Hays, Cliff White, Brad Hays, and Doug Hays. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Valley Grove Baptist Church.
