HAYS LOIS COGDILL - age 73, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord at 6:18 a.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, at the family home, after a battle with breast cancer for the past two years. She is preceded in death by parents, Cliff and Ann Cogdill; sisters, Gladys White and Polly Craig. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bill Hays, a retired employee of BellSouth and Minister of Music; daughters, Brenda Hays McClain of Greensboro, N.C., Donna Hays of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Lisa Hays Jackson of Amherst, N.H.; beloved baby, Lori Hays of Knoxville; son and daughter in law, David and Gina Hays of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Parker Luttrell, IV, and Kalissa Kincaid of Orlando, Fla., Monica and Marci McClain of Arkansas, Hays McClain of Greensboro, N.C., Lauren and Madison Jackson of Amherst, N.H., Kara Lindsay Shoen and Madeline Marens of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Kayla and Zoe Kostarelos and Noah Hays of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, June Lopasser of Sevierville, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Mike Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Highland South Cemetery. Pallbearers: Parker Luttrell, IV, Steve McClain, Scott Jackson, Jack Hays, Rick Hill, and Carl Craig. Honorary pallbearers: Dr. John Clapp, Tommy Hays, and C. Dan Scott. The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Hall, Loy Thress, Wanda Smith and Hospice of East Tenn. Baptist Hospital. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m. Tuesday at the Valley Grove Baptist Church. Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Ave. at Broadway, in charge of arrangements.
