Ruby Jane (Headrick) Akins, age 80, of Maryville, went home to be with the Lord and her husband, Elmer, on Saturday, January 10, 2009. Ruby was born November 28, 1928 in Blount County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Elmer Akins; her parents, Charlie and Mary Etta Headrick; brothers: Harold, Ed, Charles, Jr. and Henry Headrick; sister, Carrie Headrick. Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley (Akins) and Jeff Webber of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, James and Denise Akins of Lenoir City; granddaughters: Trish Myers of Greenback, Janie (Akins) Spivey and Shirley (Co-Co Akins) Ladd of North Carolina, Kelly Harris and Stevie Brown of Lenoir City; seven great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Goforth of Maryville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brenda Headrick of Knoxville, Raymond and Alice Akins of Sweetwater, John Akins of Maryville, Charles Akins of Lenoir City, Arizona and Earl Selvidge of Loudon along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. Ruby was a wonderful and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and granny. She was an avid and hardworking farmer her entire life and she will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Hawley officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Tabernacle Church Cemetery in Greenback for graveside services and interment. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is serving the Akins family.
