DERDEN, JAMES H. - age 88, of Sevierville, born May 24, 1920 in Emhouse, Texas, died peacefully January 1, 2009 at Ft. Sanders Sevier Nursing Home. Jim, otherwise known as Henry, was known for his generosity and sense of humor. He was a longtime member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church, and was a World War 11 veteran, 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, and Eastern Star. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Archibald and Gertrude Derden; brother, Charlie Derden; sister, Irma Smith. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Derden; daughter and son-in-law, Jama and Carl Reischling; granddaughters, Tonya Greene and Stephanie Clevenger; brother-in-law, Dan Smith, and sister-in-law, Pauline Dunlap; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Nadien Brown and Wilma Rolen. Special thanks to the caring staff of Ft. Sanders Sevier Nursing Home. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 pm at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy. Graveside service will be 3:00 pm Sunday at Woodlawn Cemetery with Dr. Glen Patterson officiating. Honorary pallbearers, Carl Reischling, Eric Brown, Ed Griffin, Richard Gillespie, John Chesney, M.L.
