Claude (Ronald) Cates
November 18, 1941-October 26, 2002
Mr. Ronald Cates departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2002, after a brief illness. He was employed by the City of Newport.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna S. Verdi and parents, Esther and Elmer Cates.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Jo) Cates, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Melissa Cates, of Newport; daughters and sons-in-law, Reecie and Mike Livesay and Rhonda and L.D. Ottinger, of Newport; grandchildren, Denea Cates, Crystal Crum, Taylor and Tyler Livesay, all of Newport; great-grandsons, Krystopher Cates and Tanner Crum, of Newport; sister, Reva Parton, of Knoxville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Peggy Cates and Harold and Joan Cates, all of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2002, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Livesay and Rev. Ransom Hall officiating, with burial 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2002, in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the funeral at Manes Funeral Home.
Manes Funeral Home is in charge.
