Wilson, James "Jamey", age 63, of South Knoxville, went home to be with his Savior on Easter Sunday morning, April 24, 2011 at Mercy-St. Mary's Hospital. Sergeant James Wilson was a proud Marine who served during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968 with the First Battalion 26th Marines. James loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. He retired from Knoxville Area Transit with over 30 years of service. Even through all of his illnesses his family and friends will remember his fun sense of humor and his love for his family. Preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Ida Mae Wilson; sisters, Evelyn Hurst, Jean Sweet, Beulah Rockwell, Brenda Couch; brothers, JR Wilson, Raymond Wilson, Cletus Wilson. Survivors include wife of 39 years, Pat Wilson; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Rebekah Wilson; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jessica Wilson; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Sue Tilley and family and John and Linda Hankins and family; special friend, Dennis King. The family would like to thank Dr. Charles B. Treasure, Dr. Hesamm E. Gharavi, Dr. Richard McBride and staff, ICU at St. Mary's with special thank you to Steven. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Dr. Hollie Miller and Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Lyons View Pike. Military honors will be provided by the Tennessee National Guard and the Volunteer State Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Helms, Allen Moyers, Jerry Ridinger, Gary Ridinger, Perry Roberts, Archie Elliott, Claude Berry and Frank Daniels. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sevier Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 3232 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
