ABBOTT , GEORGE WILLIAM - age 71, of Knoxville, passed away March 18, 1999, at Baptist Hospital. Member of Son Light Baptist Church. Veteran of WWII and former owner of Abbott Auto Sales. Preceded in death by: father and mother, George F. and Minerva Abbott ; brothers, Paul and Raymond Abbott ; and sister, Lorrain Goode. Survivors: wife of 47 years, Shirley K. Abbott ; brothers, Sam Abbott and wife, Yvonne of Corbin, Va., Clarence (Jeep) Abbott of Knoxville; sisters, Elizabeth Keith, Alberta Fields and husband, David, Dora Gibson and husband, Mickey and Peggy Atkins, all of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Sunday at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel, Rev. Eddie Myers and Rev. Clyde Lakin officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday before the services at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Dr.
