Wayne Dyer , 67, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, Aug. 30, 2010.
A graduate of Central High School, he received his bachelor's degree from Lee College and his master's degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Wayne felt called to serve the Lord as a minister when he was a young boy and his brother and sisters were his first congregation. For over 40 years he has ministered with love, kindness and care in the Church of God as a pastor; State Youth Director; director of the Boy's Ranch; campus pastor of Northwest Bible College; he served on a National Advisory Committee at Love Canal, N.Y.; was a prayer warrior; and had a passion for visiting with the sick and those who might need encouragement.
He is a member of Lake Hills Church of God and was a retired counselor with Camelot.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Dyer and a sister, Janice Dyer .
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Rowan Dyer ; three sons, Tracy Dyer , Kevin Dean and Curt Dean; two daughters, Trydessa Dyer , and Susan (Mike) Bertani; grandsons, Terry Dyer , Nickolas Bertani and Andrew Dean; granddaughter, Kayla Dean; father, J.C. Dyer ; brother, Robert (Betty) Dyer ; four sisters, Charlotte Keil, Carolyn Delashmitt, Linda (Conrad) DeFriese and Peggy (Orville) Donahoo; and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne suffered many illnesses for the last 25 years, but has been respected and admired for his resilient spirit, his remarkable faith in the Lord, his positive attitude and sense of humor. All of us who knew him and loved him will miss him greatly, but will be better people because of him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Burke and the Rev. Don Stovall officiating.
Interment will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
