Woman may have been murdered
By: JEFF FARRELL Staff Writer
September 23, 2007
Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of a local woman as a homicide.
Sixty-year-old Judy Ray Price was the widow of longtime Veterans Service Officer Dan Price.
Deputies said Price was found dead in her home on Mathis Branch Road at 1 p.m. Thursday. They are not releasing the cause of death at this time, although sources close to the investigation say it was believed to have been a shooting.
"We aren't releasing the cause of death until after the autopsy is completed," McCarter said.
Investigators also weren't prepared to say whether there were signs of forced entry or of a struggle at Price's home; he did say no neighbors reported hearing any kind of disturbance there.
They wouldn't say Friday whether it was a relative or another person who found the body. "She was found by another person," McCarter said.
The investigation was continuing Friday.
