Fred A. Valentine, age 84 of Seymour, TN went home peacefully to be with the Lord after a long battle with health problems on Sunday, April 22, 2012.
He was born on October 29, 1927. Mr. Valentine was a member and former deacon of Oak City Baptist Church. He was a World War II Veteran and retired from Robershaw/Fultons. Mr. Valentine loved NASCAR racing, working in his garden and basketball with his grandson, Blake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Alex and Grace Thomas Valentine; in-laws Raymond and Hazel (Gibson) McCarter; brothers-in-law, Robert King and A.J. Newcomb; nephews, Ron Newcomb, Billy Ray Newcomb, and Darell Valentine.
Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Mary Jo (McCarter) Valentine; daughter, Becky Valentine C. Sanderson and husband Tom; grandchildren, Blake Cannon, Lea Ann and Michael Lund, Jill and Kevin Schilling, Mary Beth Sanderson, Amy and Kevin Laman, Caroline and Blake Herron; great grandchildren, Jackson, Parker, and Mallory Lund; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Becky Valentine, Bill and Barbara Valentine, Richard and Linda Valentine, Oscar Valentine; sisters and brothers-in-law, Estalee Newcomb, Barbara Jean King, and Patsy and Homer King; many special nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces along with many friends from Oak City Baptist Church.
Memorial Donations may be made to Oak City Baptist Church Building Fund, 211 Main St., Seymour, TN 37865.
Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday at Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. W.A. Galyon, and Rev. Bryan Creswell officiating. Interment 10 AM Thursday in Boyd’s Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 104.
