Clyde (Punk) Sutton, age 78, of Cosby, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 12, 2004, in Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Sonoco.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Floyd Sutton, and sisters, Jett Sutton and Floradellas Ellison.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Sutton, of the home; one daughter, Glenda, and son-in-law, John Stevens, of Cosby; two granddaughters, Darla Abbott, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Carla and husband, Dean Valentine, of Cosby; two very special great-grandchildren, Drew Abbott and Taylor Valentine; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Vaude Sutton; sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and John Phillips; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were held 8 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2004, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Large, the Rev. Grady Mathis, the Rev. Junior Gorrell, and the Rev. Bill Jenkins officiating.
Burial will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ogle’s Hill Cemetery with L/Cpl Charles Roberts DAV Chapter 102 conducting the graveside services.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Williamson, James Shults, Jim Stallard, Tommy Sutton, Mike Sutton, Elmer (Tont) Shults, and Tom Styles.
