U.S. Veteran Lawrence A. Stinnett, age 86, of Cosby, passed away, Monday, August 31, 2009 in Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. He attended Middle Creek Church of God for 45 years, was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force, during WWII, and was an employee of the Tennessee Department of Highways for 37 ½ years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glennie Williamson Stinnett; son, Stephen Dwight Stinnett; parents, David Crockett and Bessie Eslinger Stinnett; brothers, Clinton, Lloyd, Hugh, and Paul Stinnett; and one sister Elmer Stinnett Sutton. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Cathy and Joy O’Dell of Newport, Andy and Patricia Brady of Newport, Karen and James Anthony Reagan of Cosby, Marilyn and Darryll Mantooth of Newport; grandchildren, Joey David O’Dell and wife Lisa, Jeffery Donald O’Dell, William Bradley O’Dell of Newport, Jason Andrew Stinnett and Jessica Lindsey Stinnett all of Newport, Betty Maranda Reagan of Cosby, Lawrence Mitchell Mantooth of Newport; and special grandchildren, Crystal Black and Kassie Styles; special friend, Evelyn Hawk; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. Albert (Sonny) Webb of Cosby, Mr. and Mrs. George Dietrich of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Marie Stinnett of Newport. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. James Prince and Rev. Albert (Sonny) Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Manes Funeral Home.
