Rule, Charles H. - age 85 of Knoxville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 27, 2012. He was a lifelong member of Valley Grove Baptist Church where he served as a greeter and usher. His cheerful presence will be greatly missed. Charlie served his community as local owner of his service station at the corner of Hendrons Chapel and Chapman Highway for 44 years. His giving spirit and helpful nature touched many lives over the years. Charlie was a graduate of Young High School and he served as a Marine during the Korean War. After his retirement he enjoyed working with people through his hobby of wood cutting. Preceded in death by father, Clarence Rule; mother, Hassie Rule Reed and stepfather, Bruce Reed; sister, Pauline Lane; brother, Troye Rule. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Jane Cannon Rule; sisters, Peggy Armour, Alma Millaway (Jim), Anna Ruth Vandergriff; beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The funeral service will be on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 7:00 pm at Valley Grove Baptist Church with Dr. William H. Sims officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm prior to the service. Family and Friends will meet at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Trentville Cemetery, Strawberry Plains Pike for the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Valley Grove Baptist Church, 9000 Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920 toward newly purchased VGBC Chapman Highway property.
