NEWPORT — A 52-year-old Cosby man who drove off State Route 339 apparently suffered a fatal heart attack, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Conrad Jett died in the 1:17 p.m. Tuesday incident, according to a report filed by THP Trooper Randy Spurgeon.
Conrad was traveling east on SR 339, also called Jones Cove Road near the intersection with E. Chavis Road when he drove a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire off the right side of the road and across a ditch before coming to a rest.
Jett was not using a seat belt, Spurgeon noted in his report, but the device would not have mattered because of the heart attack.
Although Jett apparently died from a heart attack, the THP said the death will be recorded as a highway fatality.
More details as they develop online and in Thursday’s News Sentinel.
